Chemical Name: 1-(3-azido-2,3-dideoxy-β-D-ribofuranosyl)-5-methylpyrimidin 2,4(1H,3H)-dione
Molecular Formula: C10H13N5O4
Structural Formula:

Molecular Weight: 267.24
CAS No.: 30516-87-1
Mechanism of Action: Zidovudine(AZT)is an antiviral drug, which has high activity to reverse transcript virus and HIV in vitro. Within cells infected by the virus, Zidovudine is converted to the Zidovudine triphosphate by the cellular thymidine kinase, which can selectively inhibit HIV reverse transcriptase. In this way HIV chain synthesis can be terminated.
Indication and Usage: Zidovudine is an antiviral drug, belonging to reverse transcriptase inhibitors. The first anti-HIV drug approved by FDA of the United States. The major component is the “cock-tail treatment regimen”. Be used alone as prophylactic drug and also as maternal-fetal HIV transmission prevention drug.
Packaging and Storage: 25kg fibreboard drum lined with 2-ply PE bags, stored in tightly-closed container at room. Protect from moisture. |
